On July 22, a seminar was held with Korea National University of Transportation, Korea University and Incheon University.
The schedule was as follows:
16:00-16:30 Dr. Jongmin Park (The use of C-band SAR to explore water body, water level, and soil moisture)
16:30-17:00 Dr. Kyuhyun Byun (Reconstruction of Long-Term High-Quality Gridded Meteorological Datasets based on Deep Learning)
17:00-17:30 Two post-docs from Dr. Jun’s lab
1. Impacts of Rossby Wave Packets and Atmospheric Rivers on Meteorological Drought (Dr. Jungwoo Han)
2. Retrievals and analysis of satellite-based evapotranspiration (Dr. Jongjin Baik)
17:30-18:00 Q&A, General discussion
18:30- Socializing dinner
This event was a good opportunity to find out better what is being done in South Korea, but also to learn how our research is connected and how we can collaborate.

A research project pamphlet titled “Long-Term Flood Prediction Technology: The Future of Local Communities” has been released.
2025.06.18
The project brochure for the research project led by Yoshimura, “Implementation of Long-Term Flood Prediction through the Integration of Satellite Observations and Model Simulations: Toward the Realization of a Society Free from Flood Disasters” (JST/Future Society Creation Project Full-Scale Research/JPMJMI24I1), has been completed.
This brochure provides an overview of long-term flood prediction technology and introduces the future that this technology could bring to our region once it is implemented in society. The future vision was created through discussions among researchers and practitioners from various fields who are members of this research project. Please take a look.

Kashiwa Science Camp 2024 was held
2025.02.24

Undergraduate student participants with Prof. Yoshimura and TAs

while working
The Kashiwa Campus Science Camp 2025 was held in February and provided a valuable opportunity for undergraduates to gain unusual research experience. Four undergraduates from the Yoshimura Lab participated in the camp, and although it lasted only four short days, they were eager to learn and worked hard with Prof. Yoshimura and the TAs. The final day came and went in a flash, and even with the limited time, the presentations by the undergraduates were excellent and impressive.

Happy New Year
2023.01.30
Happy New Year, although it is very late.
This is an update from the last post (July).
Vu Quynh Anh Cao (Annie) from the Frontier Research Area and Roman Olson (Roman) from Korea joined us as specially appointed researchers from October. In addition,
Cheng Jingya (Jinya) and Li Hongmei (Hongmei) also joined us in the Frontier Research Area doctoral program from October. Both are from China. Kamei is also helping us as a secretary. Meanwhile,
Yin Gaohong (Gaohong) will return to his home country of China in January. He will become an associate professor at Jilin University. Wonderful.
The photo was taken after the mini-symposium to unveil the large sphere, which was held in conjunction with the Kashiwa Open House in October 2022. Yamazaki and other members of the Yamazaki Laboratory and alumni came all the way to see us.
